*All 3.520 supermarkets in the Netherlands are allowed to sell ‘AV’ medicines (Algemene Verkoop = General Sale) and unlicensed health products like food- and herbal supplements. In an increasing number of supermarkets UAD-medicines (Uitsluitend Apotheek en Drogist = Pharmacy and Drugstore Only) are available as well; they employ a qualified druggist.

These figures do not include petrol stations selling AV-medicines.
