*All 3.460 supermarkten supermarkets in the Netherlands are allowed to sell ‘AV’ medicines (Algemene Verkoop = General Sale) and unlicensed health products like food- and herbal supplements. 3.358 supermarkets actually sold ‘AV’ medicines in 2017, whereof 795 supermarkets sold UAD-medicines (Uitsluitend Apotheek en Drogist = Pharmacy and Drugstore Only) as well; they employ a qualified druggist.

These figures do not include approximately 250 petrol stations selling AV-medicines.
